High School Sports Results:

Synchronised Swimming:

Congratulations to Lori Niemand and Giulia Torino, who have been selected for the South African Synchronised swimming team to take part in the FINA World Junior Championships Synchronised Swimming in Kazan Russia, from the 9-13 of July 2016. Congratulations to you both, what a wonderful achievement!

Surf Life Saving:

Tayla Gilmore, was chosen as first reserve for the South African Surf Life Saving Team. Tayla has also been selected for the South African Schools Surf Ski/Canoeing Team. These are amazing achievements Tayla, congratulations.

Triathlon:

Amber Schlebusch competed in the South African Championships for Triathlon and placed 3rd overall in her age category. Well done Amber!

Life Saving:

Kayla Ribbink was awarded the following at the recent annual Durban Surf Life Saving Awards:

Kayla also came 3rd in the KZN schools championships, despite making a wrong turn on the bike, she managed to fight back and pull herself up a place in the run and finished strong.

Kayla also competed at Ethekweni Biathle (Run-Swim-Run) Champs 2 weeks ago. She has been selected to compete at SA champs later on this year & at KZN Biathle champs. Well done on these wonderful achievements.

The DGC 1st Team Netball took part in the 1st team Independent Schools KZN Tournament, hosted by Epworth School. Schools were placed in one of three pools where they each played 3 round robin games. DGC played

St Nicholas, Epworth and Thomas More. DGC won all three. At the end of the round robin section DGC was placed first on points and goal averages. We were automatically placed into the semi-final, where we played Epworth and won. In the final we played St Mary’s and unfortunately lost by a narrow margin. The DGC 1st Team won silver medals. Well done girls.

Cross Country:

At the cross country league race hosted by Kearsney College, last Wednesday, the following girls were placed:

  • Kayla Ribbink – 3rd in the u15 Age group and 5th overall
  • Alice Edward – 5th in the u17 Age group and 12th overall

Amber de Freitas, Nikita di Giulio, Kayla Ribbink, Erika Esterhuizen, Londi Busse were all selected to participate in the KZN Swimming Championships as part of the Umlazi swim team. Congratulations to the girls that participated.
