Durban Girls’ College joined ISASA in 1936 when the organisation was known as the Conference of
Headmasters and Headmistresses. It became the Association of Private Schools of South Africa (APS) in
1974, the Independent Schools Council (ISC) in 1988, and the current ISASA in 1999.

Durban Girls’ College completed the OISESA quality assurance programme in 2022. The Office of Independent Schools Evaluations, Southern Africa (OISESA) is the ISASA-appointed, independent assurance body. The quality assurance process promotes strategic thinking and encourages adaptability which is vital for independent schools as we navigate Southern Africa’s education landscape.


In January 2022, our Junior Primary received international accreditation as a Thinking School from the University of Exeter in the United Kingdom. The heart of our teaching is based on growth. We strive to develop independent girls who are confident, engaged and curious in their learning. Our empowered and passionate staff have been trained and continue to journey in implementing 21st-century skills using thinking tools and strategies in their teaching. Our school values underpin our learning programme and provide a strong foundation for growth.

Throughout the year we coordinate events with the assistance of the Class Liaison Parents:

  • Matric Parents Farewell Cocktail Party, to name a few.

The Parent Association has sponsored speakers and events and made purchases for the school to enhance the school experience and environment.
